Students of KazNU won the competition "Farabi Project Challenge 2024"

Students of KazNU won the competition of innovative project "Farabi Project Challenge 2024", which was held within the framework of the international digital forum "Digital Farabi 2024".

The purpose of the competition is to identify and develop students' creative abilities and motivation for education in the field of information technologies, to increase interest in research and study, as well as to identify and support the most talented young scientists.

According to Timur Imankulov, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of Computer Science Department, such competitions are an interesting way to support the formation of intellectual potential of the country's youth.

Eight teams of students of KazNU took part in the competition. The competition was held in two stages. According to the student contestant Didar Moldakhmetov, the topics of the competition were complex and interesting, it took a lot of time to analyze and answer.

Students performed tasks on four topics. The first of them was "Intelligent information system of tourist routes control", where the contestants had to recognize unique people from camera recordings and build the route they passed. At the 2nd stage students identified cases of similarity of people from existing routes when they were absent for a long time on camera recordings.

The jury evaluated the criteria for the development of algorithms for analyzing data on public transport traffic and passenger flows on the topics: "Development of an AI application for personalized training recommendations" and "AI for optimization of public transport schedules".

Competitive works on the fourth topic "Development of steganography methods classification model using deep neural networks" were also reviewed by the jury members, who evaluated data visualization and preprocessing, analysis, method of classifier training on the basis of deep neural networks, and others.

More than eight interesting projects were developed by the competitors. Each team defended the results of their projects before a qualified jury.

According to the results of the II stage (final) of the competition "Farabi Project Challenge 2024" the 1st place was awarded to the team Samson Dawit, the 2nd place was taken by Nurtugan Azatbekuly, Serik Aibagarov, Ersultan Amanbai and the 3rd place was won by Aida Begaidarova and Didar Moldakhmetov. The prize fund of the competition for the 1st place amounted to 150,000 tenge and a laptop, 2nd place - 100,000 tenge and 3rd place - 75,000 tenge.

At the end of the event the dean of the Faculty of Information Technologies of KazNU Olzhas Turar congratulated the winning students and expressed his gratitude to the sponsors ASUS Education and Bugin Holding.
The organizers plan to hold similar competitions regularly in the future, targeting students of the leading universities of the country.
