Round table discussion "No poverty"

18 march, 2024

On March 18, 2024,  the lecturer  of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature,  Kaiyrbek M.N. together with the  1st year students studying in  “Psychology” major  held an event within the framework of SDG-1 “No Poverty”. The event was  organized in a round table discussion format.

Poverty refers to malnutrition, social exclusion and discrimination, limited access to education and other basic social services, and lack of participation in decision-making. Billions of people currently live in extreme poverty and struggle to meet basic needs - health, education and access to water and sanitation. Poverty is a complex, multifaceted problem whose causes are both national and international. All countries have a shared responsibility for taking action to combat poverty.

During the round table discussion, brainstorming sessions were held and the following topics: the problems of poverty and their solutions, the level of poverty in the world, the level of poverty in Kazakhstan, the psychology of poverty, thinking and finance were discussed.

The event participants worked together as a team, asked questions with an  interest, shared information and freely expressed their point of view. At the end, they   came to  the conclusion that the financial situation of others is  important for everyone, since the well-being of all people is interconnected. The growth of the poor population harms economic growth - it loses purchasing power, undermines social cohesion, increasing political and social tensions, and in some cases causing high crime rates, political instability and even the outbreak of armed conflicts.
