Participants of the III International Farabi Forum, held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, familiarized themselves with the activities of the recently opened Kazakhstan-China joint laboratory "Remote Sensing Technology and Applications".

Guests of honor - President of the National Engineering Academy of RK Bakytzhan Zhumagulov, Chairman of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of RK Galymzhan Zhankuatov and Head of the Creative Industry Department of Almaty Kaisar Sarybaev met with the scientists of the University and exchanged opinions.

The center was opened on March 27th this year with the participation of Yerkin Tuniyaz, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Party Committee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the PRC, Chairman of the People's Government of XUAR.

The Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that the joint Kazakh-Chinese laboratory will help to solve urgent environmental problems.

The new center monitors environmental problems in the Central Asian region, such as water shortages, drought, and land degradation caused by climate change. Remote sensing technology ensures environmental security and sustainable development by warning of natural hazards in the region through remote monitoring. This, in turn, will create an international high-tech platform in resource research for Kazakhstan, China, and Central Asia.

Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management Aliya Aktymbaeva told the guests of honor about the work of the center and familiarized them with the equipment of the laboratory.

In conclusion, the guests of honor wished the scientists success in their research work.
