"The Best Linguist"

On 17 April 2024 o the Department of Turkology and Language Theory of the Faculty of Philology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University  held XI Republican Olympiad: "The Best Linguist". The  master's degree  students from all universities  of the country were invited to participate in it.  The master’s degree  students from  Abai KazNPU, KazNWPU, Al-Farabi KazNU majoring in  "Linguistics", "Kazakh Philology", "Russian Philology", "Foreign Philology", "Foreign Language: two foreign languages" took part. The organisers of the Olympiad were  the teachers of the Department of Turkicology and Language Theory, Doctor of Philological Sciences Ibraeva J.K. and Candidate of Philological Sciences Mambetova M.K.

The Olympiad  consisted of 2 stages. At the first stage the participants took a test. The test tasks included questions on general linguistics, language theory, genealogical and typological classification of languages. At the second stage, the participants made   the reports on the topic: "Digital linguistics in Kazakhstan: future and trends  of development"  which were a homework assignment.

The participants sshowed  their profound knowledge and were well- prepared. The Olympiad was held at a high level. According to the results of the Olympiad, the first place was taken by  the master’s degree  student of Abai KazNPU Tulegenova Moldir, the second place was taken by   the master’s degree  students of Al-Farabi  KazNU  Arinov Alisher, Karymkhan Akmaral, and the  master’s degree  student of KazNWPU Baikenova Togzhan, the third place was taken by the master’s degree  students of Al-Farabi  KazNU  Mamanov Bolat and Nurlangazy Balnur. The winner and prize-winners of the Olympiad were awarded  the diplomas and the  memorable prizes.
