«Foreign policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in conditions of international turbulence: challenges and prospects»

Faculty of International Relations of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University invites you to take part in the international round table “Foreign Policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Conditions of International Turbulence: Challenges and Prospects”, which will take place on May 24, 2024 at the Faculty of International Relations of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Since the first years of gaining independence, Kazakhstan has pursued a pragmatic and balanced foreign policy. The multi-vector nature of the foreign policy strategy has become one of the important factors not only for successful socio-economic development, but also contributed to strengthening the country’s geopolitical position in the system of international relations. As a result, Kazakhstan has achieved the image of a neutral player that deserves the trust of all world and regional powers. Until now, the republic has repeatedly provided mediation services in the framework of resolving various international conflicts. In the latter case the country became a platform for negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia in May 2024.

However, due to the aggravation of the geopolitical situation in the world in recent years, the traditional foreign policy of Kazakhstan is facing certain challenges, when it is becoming increasingly difficult to maneuver in conditions of increasing tension between the leading states of the world. This trend actualizes the question of further prospects for the development of the foreign policy of independent Kazakhstan.

The purpose of this round is to discuss and analyze various aspects of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy at the present stage, including identifying the main challenges and problems.

Kazakh and foreign representatives of the expert and scientific community, representatives of diplomatic missions, public and international organizations accredited in the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of government agencies and the media are invited to participate in the conference.

Working languages of round table: Kazakh, Russian, English.
