Rector participated in the VIII meeting of the Union of Turkic Universities

Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev took part in the VIII meeting of the General Assembly of the Union of Turkic Universities of the Organization of Turkic Speaking States in Azerbaijan.

Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliyev, President of the International Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, rectors of universities of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Hungary, vice-rectors, top officials, Turkic scientists took part in the General Assembly.

The aim of the event was joint training of personnel, solution of problematic issues, expansion of cooperation in the sphere of higher education and science in Turkic-speaking states.

Rector of Azerbaijan State Economic University, Prof. Adalat Muradov made a welcoming speech, noting that strong ties have been established between the universities of Turkic-speaking states. In his speech, the rector wished the Turkic world to continue to be famous for its dignity and authority in the field of education and science.

Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev made a report and noted the need to intensify the work on exchange of students under the academic mobility program between universities of Turkic countries. He stressed that this work opens the way to familiarize young people with the culture, civilization, history and language of Turkic states.

President of the International Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev and heads of higher education institutions also spoke at the meeting and presented the work being done at the university in these areas. Having discussed the issues of common history of Turkic peoples, the parties agreed to develop new areas of interaction.

The links of Al-Farabi KazNU with universities of Turkic countries are growing day by day. Today branches of the educational institution have been opened in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), and Istanbul (Turkey). On the basis of KazNU the chair of TURKSOY successfully functions. Also, the University has opened the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies, and extensive study of rare manuscripts and ancient books is underway.
