KazNU and the Institute of France signed an agreement on the creation of a joint laboratory

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Institute of Ecology and Environment of France signed an agreement on the establishment of an international research laboratory "Archaeozoological Center for the Study of Central Asia". This became possible during the working visit of the French delegation to KazNU.

Member of the Board - Vice-Rector for Operations of KazNU Erkin Duisenov and Director of the Institute of Ecology and Environment of France Stéphane Blanc held talks in an extended format. During the meeting, the parties discussed the opening of the center, equipping the laboratory with material and technical base, as well as identified its main areas of activity.  

Welcoming the guests of honor in the walls of the leading university of the country, Erkin Ermanovich noted the dynamically developing cooperation between KazNU and universities of France. He also emphasized that the establishment of the joint center is important for further expansion of partnerships.

"Today the Kazakh National University maintains close relations with 21 higher education institutions and organizations of France. The Kazakh-French scientific and educational center "Geoenergetics" functions in our university. For 2022/23 academic years 36, 2023/24 academic years 71 students studied under the program of academic mobility, underwent scientific internships and participated in summer schools. I believe that the activity of the new center will allow solving urgent natural problems in the regions and increase the number of research projects of scientists", - said the Vice-Rector.

In turn, the director of the Institute of Ecology and Environment of France Stephane Blanc expressed his gratitude for hospitality and noted that he was pleased to create a joint center with KazNU.   

"The main goal of the international laboratory is to study the past of human societies through the lens of the dynamics of human-animal relations over time (archaeology). The research conducted at the center will be based on laboratory analyses, leading international field missions throughout the Central Asian region," concluded the guest of honor.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed on the systematic implementation of the plans outlined - the opening of a joint international laboratory "Archaeozoological Center for the Study of Central Asia".
