1 june, 2024

The meteorological support of the RK Air Defence Forces plays an important role in improving the safety, regularity and efficiency of flights. In meteorological terms, flight safety is achieved by the correct assessment of meteorological conditions of flight and the timely delivery of necessary meteorological information to consumers. To achieve this goal, specialists of the meteorological service must be well trained. In this regard, they are helped by advanced training courses. These courses allow meteorologists to keep abreast of changes, refresh forgotten knowledge and acquire new ones (SDG 4,8,17).

From 20 May to 1 June 2024, teachers of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology of Al-Farabi KazNU organised refresher courses (retraining) for junior specialists of meteorological services of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The purpose of these courses is retraining of meteorologists with the acquisition of an additional profile speciality. The refresher courses provide an opportunity to learn about new requirements and technologies, as well as to meet like-minded professionals. The courses are held on the basis of a distance learning class and training meteorological station of KazNU named after Al-Farabi. The programme also included field trips to an existing meteorological station. This year classes were held at the high-mountain meteorological stations of Chimbulak and Mynzhylki.

Upon completion of the courses, the trainees receive certificates confirming the completion of the advanced training courses.
