Ambassador of France held talks with the leadership of KazNU

The meeting of the Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev and the Ambassador Plenipotentiary of France in the Republic of Kazakhstan Didier Canessa took place in KazNU.

In his welcoming speech, the head of the university thanked him for his visit and his interest in establishing cooperation between French and Kazakh universities.

Rector of KazNU told about the activities, plans and achievements of the university. Thus, KazNU has strengthened its position in the international QS ranking and moved from 230th place to 67 positions forward, taking 163rd place among the best universities in the world. KazNU named after Al-Farabi with 90-year history has a great experience of scientific and educational relations with many universities of the world. Including with French institutes, universities and organizations in the field of science and higher education. Thus, as a result of collaboration with the University of Lorraine, a two-diploma educational program "Mechanics and Energy" was successfully implemented at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of KazNU. As a result, more than 100 undergraduates and 20 doctoral students were trained. Educational programs "Oil and Gas Engineering" and "Abai-Vern" with the University of Lorraine are implemented at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology. Two-diploma programs are also implemented with other leading universities of France.  In general, KazNU cooperates with more than 20 universities in France.

Last academic year 36 students, 14 teachers of KazNU visited universities of France to participate in conferences, seminars and realization of joint projects. Visiting scholars from French universities, who are also supervisors of PhD doctoral students, give lectures at KazNU.

During the meeting the parties exchanged views on academic mobility of students and teachers. Ambassador Plenipotentiary of France to Kazakhstan Didier Caness expressed his respect and satisfaction with bilateral relations and positively assessed the expansion of cooperation between KazNU and French universities.
