In KazNU considered the issues of food security
Al-Farabi KazNU hosted a meeting of the university management with the Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security Berik Aryn. Welcoming the guest, Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebaev told about the scientific and educational activities of the research university, which entered the Top 200 universities in the world and rose in the international ranking QS WUR 163rd place.
Today, the university carries out a huge work in all directions, including the implementation of the program of attracting foreign scientists to teaching activities. During the last academic year, the total number of invited foreign professors involved in the teaching process amounted to 137 people. Presenting the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the head of the university told about the department of Iranian studies, which is a center for training highly qualified specialists with knowledge of oriental languages in Kazakhstan. Persian language has been taught at the Faculty of Oriental Studies since 1989. It should be noted that Berik Aryn is a graduate of the Department of Iranian Studies.
Al-Farabi KazNU closely cooperates with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South, COMSTECH and others.
Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebaev also informed the guest about the work of the Earth Remote Sensing Center (ERSC), where specialists conduct research and development in the field of management and monitoring of pastures in sandy massifs, to prevent desertification and degradation processes in natural-agricultural spheres using remote sensing data. Also, cartographic modeling and forecasting of pasture productivity is carried out, etc.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views and discussed issues on the development of cooperation between the university and the Islamic organization. Thanking for the warm welcome, Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security Berik Aryn expressed his readiness to support the University's initiatives and contribute to the development in the field of science and education. B.Aryn presented the Farabi Library with a two-volume book on the history of mosques in Egypt. At the end of his visit, the high guest visited the faculties of geography and nature management, biology and biotechnology, familiarized himself with the work of research laboratories and the Center for Remote Sensing of the Earth.
