Ecological importance of the botanical garden in the urbanized area

1st year students of the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Development of Al-Farabi KazNU specialty "6B05202-Ecology" visited the Main Botanical Garden of Almaty, where they held a field seminar on the theme: "Scientific, ecological and social importance of the botanical garden of Almaty in the urbanized area".

One of the UN global goals in the field of sustainable development - SDG 11: "Sustainable Cities and Communities" - states to ensure environmental sustainability of cities. Rapid urbanization leads to excessive anthropogenic pressure on the environment and nature in general.  For example, large cities are responsible for about 70% of global carbon emissions.
