An archaeological summer school "Altai-Tarbagatai - the golden cradle of ancient history"
As part of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 4 "Quality Education," With the support of the Akimat of the East Kazakhstan region, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University and the Museum of Local Lore of the East Kazakhstan region, an archaeological summer school "Altai-Tarbagatai - the golden cradle of ancient history" was held in the village of Akbulak in the Markakol district of the East Kazakhstan region from 06/27/2024." as part of the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the 70th anniversary of the Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor A.T. Toleubayev.
The summer school was attended by students, undergraduates and doctoral students of al-Farabi Kazakh National University and L.N. Gumilev ENU, as well as students of the Semey new school private school in Semey city under the guidance of the director of the school G.N. Ibraeva and teacher N.K. Medina, Lyceum school No. 40 named after A.H. Margulan in Astana under the guidance of the teacher Baidrakhmanova S.J., the gymnasium school of the village of Boran under the guidance of the director of the gymnasium Bolatov A.
As part of the summer school, lectures and master classes were given to the participants: PhD, Assoc.Professor, Director of the Scientific Research Institute "Archaeology and Anthropology" at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Omarov G.K., Ph.D., Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Archaeology and Ethnology at L.N. Gumilyov ENU Umitkaliev U.U., Ph.D., Professor of Shakarim Isin University A.I., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Mining-Altai State University Konstantinov N.A. and others.
The students who participated in the archaeological expedition for the first time were initiated into archaeology. Also, a trip to Lake Markakol, watching documentaries and master classes on the methodology of excavation of mounds of the Early Iron Age were organized for all participants of the summer school.
