A delegation from O.P.Jindal University arrived to Al-Farabi KazNU to deepen co-operation with KazNU.
During the meeting the parties exchanged information about the activities and directions of work of the universities, discussed plans and issues on the development of cooperation.
First Vice-Rector Erkin Duisenov noted that KazNU for 90-year history managed to build a multi-vector policy of cooperation with many of the best universities and institutes in the field of science and higher education around the world, including with universities in India. Today Al-Farabi KazNU cooperates with 10 higher education institutions and organisations in India. Among them - Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Amity University, B.M.S. College of Engineering, Kashmir University, Hindustan College of Engineering and Technology, etc.
KazNU is the only university in Kazakhstan that trains specialists in Oriental Studies and Indology. To date, about 200 orientalists have graduated from the Department of Indology and speak Indian languages (Hindi, Urdu). Among them are bachelors, masters, doctors and candidates of sciences.
It should be noted that students from India study at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Department of Indology and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre, opened with the support of the Embassy of India in Kazakhstan, are successfully working. 15 March 2024 in the Farabi Library was held an international scientific-practical conference ‘Present and future of Eurasian and Indian Indology’, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of KazNU and the 25th anniversary of the Hindi department at the Faculty of Oriental Studies.
In turn, co-director and head of the Office of Institutional Development and Strategic Global Engagement Rahula Bhandaria spoke about the activities of the private O.P. Jindal University. The Indian delegation offered a three-month internship for PhDs and young scientists of KazNU. Cooperating with Indian scientists, they will be able to jointly write scientific articles for Scopus magazine. There was also a proposal to organise short 3-week review courses for 25 students from O.P. Jindal University, as well as to strengthen cooperation and exchange of experience in order to advance in international rankings. During the negotiations the Indian delegation, thanking the leadership of KazNU for a warm welcome expressed hope for fruitful mutually beneficial co-operation.
