Cooperation with the University of Arizona is promising
The delegation of Arizona State University visited Al-Farabi KazNU. Within the framework of the visit, the guests of honour met with the leadership of the leading university of the country to discuss the prospects of cooperation.
Acting Deputy Chairman of the Board - First Vice-Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Yerkin Duisenov in his welcoming speech told the guests of honour about the activities, infrastructure and achievements of the university. He dwelt in detail on cooperation of KazNU with 19 universities and organisations of the USA. Within the framework of academic mobility in 2023-2024 four teachers and 53 students from the USA were sent to KazNU for training, scientific internships and research work. During the past academic year, 12 teachers and 29 students were seconded to US universities.
KazNU closely cooperates with the American Councils for International Education, a memorandum of understanding with which was signed in 2014. More than 120 American students were admitted to the language programme of the Faculty of Philology under the Flagship Programme and 300 students to the RLASP programme at the Faculty of International Relations. Four professors from US universities have taught at KazNU. In 2023 on the scholarship programme ‘Bolashak-500 scientists’ 41 employees of KazNU visited foreign universities, including 12 employees in 8 universities in the USA. A memorandum of co-operation was signed with the University of Pennsylvania in the USA during the working visit of the Chairman of the Board - Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebaev to the USA.
At the end of his speech, the First Vice-Rector thanked the guests of honour for the visit and expressed hope that the universities would define priority areas of cooperation for the development of science.
In his response, Gabe Lavin, Director of the Arizona Department of Emergency Management, spoke about Arizona's co-operation with Kazakhstan, which began in 1993. Within the framework of the state partnership programme, Kazakhstani delegations often visit Arizona. Gabe Lavin also spoke about the largest University of Arizona, which has about 600 thousand students, and expressed interest in developing co-operation.
Then there was a discussion on the development of mutually beneficial co-operation in various fields of science and education.
