SDG-4: Informative Lecture on Identifying Blackmail, Extortion, and Bullying Among Students in Education
On October 2, a lecture was held for university students in Almaty, aimed at enhancing legal awareness among students and preventing youth crime. Organized with the participation of the Police Department of Bostanyk District, the lecture focused on identifying instances of "blackmail," "extortion," and "bullying" in the educational environment. The session was led by Police Major Yerbolat Aydarkhanov, Senior Operations Officer of the Department for Combating Organized Crime in the Almaty Department of Internal Affairs.
During the lecture, Major Aydarkhanov provided an in-depth discussion of the legal violations associated with blackmail, extortion, and bullying—issues that are increasingly prevalent among today’s youth. The consequences and harmful impacts of such actions on individuals and society were thoroughly explained. A special video was also presented, illustrating real-life scenarios involving young people who, without fully considering the consequences, engaged in blackmail, extortion, and bullying. The video portrayed their journey of regret, as they realized—too late—that these seemingly minor offenses could lead to serious crimes. The young offenders expressed remorse only after being imprisoned, coming to understand the gravity of their actions.
At the conclusion of the lecture, students had the opportunity to ask Police Major Aydarkhanov questions, receiving clear and insightful answers. The lecture effectively addressed critical issues facing our students and proved to be a valuable and educational experience for all who attended.
