Modern technologies for environmental monitoring

On October 15, 2024, senior teachers of the UNESCO Department of Sustainable Development of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, A.K. Tanybayev and A.B. Kerimkulov, organized an educational meeting of students of the 3rd and 4th courses of the OP Ecology as part of the promotion of Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 "Quality Education" with the staff of the Center for Space Technologies and Remote Sensing of the Earth.

At the meeting, Deputy Director General of the Cluster of Engineering and High-tech Technologies O.J. Taukebaev and Director of the center K.B. Zulpykharov held an open lecture, where they introduced students to the activities of the university department. The main attention was paid to scientific research in the field of remote sensing of the Earth, including the acquisition, processing and dissemination of satellite images with various spatial resolutions. The lecturers explained in detail the process of environmental monitoring and analytical research using remote sensing data.

The students were particularly interested in the scientific projects of the center aimed at environmental monitoring using space technologies. This meeting allowed future ecologists to expand their knowledge of modern environmental monitoring technologies and their practical application in solving environmental problems.
