Joint projects with Dezhou to be implemented
At the meeting of the delegation of Dezhou University (PRC) with the leadership of KazNU, it was agreed to establish mutually beneficial cooperation to implement joint scientific and educational projects.
In his welcoming speech, the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees and First Vice-Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU, Erkin Duisenov, told the guests of honour about the main directions of KazNU's active strategic cooperation with universities, institutes and organisations around the world, including universities in the People's Republic of China. Within the framework of signed agreements, academic and research work is actively carried out, scientific centres and laboratories such as Confucius Institute, Chinese-Kazakh Joint Laboratory of Remote Sensing Technologies and their Application, Earth Remote Sensing Centre, International Chinese-Kazakh Scientific Laboratory on Energy Intensive Nanotechnologies have been opened and are operating successfully. The laboratory of 5G/5.5G communication technologies was opened jointly with North-West Polytechnic University (China). Currently, 969 students from the People's Republic of China are studying at KazNU, including 308 students under the scholarship programme and 661 students on a contractual basis. Yerkin Ermanovich thanked the guests of honour for their interest in the activities of the university and assured that this interest was mutual and that the university was open for a promising partnership.
Xu Jing, Vice-President of Dezhou University and a member of the Party Committee, gave an update on the activities of Dezhou University, a public university in Shandong Province. The university is committed to improving the research skills of its teachers. In the past three years, the university's teachers have conducted more than 460 vertical research projects and won second prize in the Shandong Provincial Natural Science Award. At the end of her speech, Ms Xu Jing noted that Dezhou University is interested in implementing joint projects with Al-Farabi KazNU. In particular, she considers promising programmes of academic exchange of students (at master's level) and teachers, as well as the establishment of a joint research and production laboratory for the development and production of chips for computers and other technical equipment.
The parties will examine the prospects of concluding a memorandum of cooperation and establishing a research and production laboratory.
