Department of Chinese Studies hosts open lesson for future translators as part of SDG 'Quality education' initiative

On October 24, 2024, senior lecturer B. Maulit from the Department of Chinese Studies conducted an open lesson on the "Speech Culture Practicum" for third-year students majoring in "Translation," as part of the SDG 'Quality Education' project. The lesson aimed to enhance students' language communication skills and deepen their understanding of speech culture. During the class, Maulit demonstrated expert teaching methods by incorporating interactive and practical elements that focused on developing both oral and written communication skills. The session explored key differences between Chinese and Kazakh speech cultures, including sentence structures, intonation, stylistic nuances, and the challenges of translating official speech. The new topic was presented thoroughly and systematically, with a strong emphasis on the importance of precise word usage in effective communication. The significance of speech culture and its practical applications in daily life were also discussed in depth. Students actively participated, posed insightful questions, and shared their perspectives, setting personal goals to further improve their communication abilities. At the conclusion of the lesson, Maulit praised the students for their high level of engagement and meaningful contributions to the discussion, underlining the critical role that such lessons play in their professional development as future translators.
