On November 5, 2024, as part of the Sustainable Development Goal 14, "CONSERVATION OF MARINE ECOSYSTEMS" students of group 117, together with Bazartaeva Erkenaz Bazartaykyzy, a lecturer from the "Theory and History of State and Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law" department, conducted an excursion in the Central Park of Almaty. During the excursion, students observed the crucial role of water not only for the city but also for the entire environment.
The purpose of the excursion was to emphasize the conservation of marine ecosystems – protecting them and ensuring their sustainable functioning. These ecosystems produce a large portion of the planet's oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide, and serve as a vital habitat for many living organisms. By conserving marine ecosystems, we are not only protecting biodiversity but also contributing to the fight against climate change.
Our main goal is to explain the importance of marine waters for humanity, as our lives are closely connected to the environment. Marine waters are a crucial resource for humanity, serving as a source of water, food, energy, and natural resources essential for life. Here are the main benefits of marine waters for humanity:
Source of food: Seas and oceans are home to various species of fish, mollusks, and other marine products, which have become a primary food source for billions of people.
Economic benefits: Seas and oceans play a crucial role in global trade routes. A significant portion of the world’s goods is transported by sea, which greatly influences trade and the economy.
Source of energy: Seas are rich in energy sources such as oil, gas, and wind. Today, marine energy production technologies are advancing, enabling the generation of clean energy.
Regulation of natural cycles: Seas and oceans act as climate regulators. They absorb carbon dioxide and help stabilize the climate on Earth. Additionally, oceans retain heat and regulate the planet's temperature.
