Exhibition of works by young stone-cutters of Tuva
The Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi hosted an exhibition of works by young stone-cutters from Tuva.
The main goal of the project is to popularise culture and art, as well as to support and discover talents. The exhibition featured works by masters such as Yendan Anay-ool, Aganak Dongak and Seren Dongak.
An important part of the event was a master class on working with agalmatolite, which was conducted by Orlan Sat, a famous Tuvan stone-cutter, member of the Union of Artists of Russia and winner of republican competitions in stone-cutting art. The master demonstrated the technology of creating products from agalmatolite and spoke about the peculiarities of artistic processing of stone, characteristic of the traditional Tuvan school.
The event also included a presentation of the project ‘Living Stone’. Olga Kendivan, associate professor of the Chemistry Department of Tuva State University, presented the new project to the audience.
‘The presentation and master classes were organised to promote the preservation and development of traditional Tuvan stone-carving art, as well as its integration into modern cultural life. The event became an important milestone in the development of intercultural and interethnic dialogue among student youth,’ the organizers of the exhibition said.
