Overview of Books on Traditional Kazakh Beliefs
The Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the presentation of renowned scientist, archaeologist, and ethnographer Abdesh Tashkenovich Toleubayev’s books, titled «Traditional Beliefs and Superstitious Images of Kazakhs».
The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of History, Dosbol Baigunakov; the Chairman of the Parassat Trade Union, Talgat Mekebayev; Doctor of Historical Sciences and Professor Madiyar Eleuov; Doctor of Historical Sciences and Professor Amanzhol Kalish, as well as prominent historians, scholars, relatives, colleagues, and students of Abdesh Toleubayev.
The session was opened by Dosbol Baigunakov, the Dean of the Faculty of History, who spoke about the life and academic contributions of Professor Abdesh Tashkenovich. He noted: «Abdesh Toleubayev was born on November 15, 1953. In 1970, he entered the Faculty of History at KazGU and graduated with honors. Abdesh Tashkenovich worked at the university from 1979 until the end of his life. He trained numerous students and became the Head of the Department of Archaeology and Ethnology. He mentored many candidates and doctors of sciences».
This publication includes the scientific works and articles of Abdesh Tashkenovich on ancient Kazakh beliefs, superstitions, and customs.
During the event, academics such as Talgat Mekebayev, Ziyabek Kabuldinov, Nursan Alimbay, Madiyar Eleuov, Amanzhol Kalish, and others shared their memories of Abdesh Toleubayev and highlighted his significant contributions to the fields of archaeology and ethnology.
