In celebration of the 90th anniversary of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, a modern cluster titled "Farabi Chemistry Science" was opened. The new scientific facility, located at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, includes nine modern laboratories.
Modern laboratories: contribution to the development of chemistry and technology scientific research and innovation play a key role in the development of various sectors of the economy and improving the quality of life.
Modern laboratories not only open up new horizons of knowledge, but also ensure the practical implementation of developments. Let us note the contribution of leading laboratories operating on the basis of scientific institutions of Kazakhstan to the development of Chemistry, Technologies and Environmental Protection.
-
Analytical Chemistry and Environmental Laboratory
The main task of this laboratory is to develop methods for analyzing pollutants in the environment and to study their impact. Scientists develop new methods, validate them, and conduct experiments for water, air, and soil analysis. The obtained data help identify pollution sources and develop strategies to reduce them. The laboratory actively participates in government programs and is equipped with equipment worth 105 million tenge. -
Electrochemical Production Technologies Laboratory
This laboratory specializes in the development of materials and technologies for electrochemical processes, such as lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors, and new coatings. Fundamental research on electrode processes is conducted, and innovative materials are synthesized. The laboratory significantly contributes to the energy and metallurgy sectors with the help of equipment worth 454 million tenge. -
Petrochemical Laboratory
This laboratory focuses on the research of petroleum refining processes and the development of technologies for obtaining commercial products from petroleum. Special attention is given to training students and master’s degree students. Despite the relatively low cost of equipment (25 million tenge), the laboratory plays an important role in training specialists and conducting applied research. -
Chemical-Medical Laboratory
Medical chemistry is one of the priority areas of this laboratory. Here, environmentally friendly antibacterial coatings and biocomposite materials are developed. Researchers work on technologies to replace imported medical devices with local alternatives, thus contributing to the country’s independence in this field. The equipment value is 42 million tenge. -
Organic Synthesis Laboratory
This laboratory engages in the synthesis and study of new organic compounds with biological activity. Promising drugs for pharmaceuticals and medicine are developed here. Synthesis methods are created, structural analysis is carried out, and the biological activity of compounds is tested. The funding is provided through sponsorship, and the equipment value is 10 million tenge. -
International China-Kazakhstan Laboratory
This laboratory specializes in energy-efficient nanotechnologies, including the development of fire-resistant coatings and materials for the construction industry. Unique equipment worth 15 million tenge allows the development of technologies used in various sectors. -
Prospective Materials and Technologies Laboratory
The laboratory focuses on creating and studying materials with special properties, such as photocatalytic, magnetic, and luminescent materials. It also works on functional polymers and plant concentrates. The laboratory is equipped with 110 million tenge worth of equipment. -
High-Precision Material Diagnostics Laboratory
Working in collaboration with "AlemTrade" LLP, this laboratory conducts chemical and physical analysis of materials. The primary focus is on supporting the research of master’s students, doctoral candidates, and scientists. The investment in equipment amounts to 200 million tenge, ensuring high-quality services. -
“Innovations in Chemical Packaging” Scientific and Industrial Center
This center specializes in the creation and application of packaging materials with unique properties, such as wear resistance, heat resistance, and magnetic characteristics. The technologies developed here are used in machinery, instrument-making, and construction. The value of the equipment is 40 million tenge.
Each of these laboratories performs important tasks in advancing science, industry, and healthcare. Their activities cover a wide range of areas, from analytical chemistry and electrochemical processes to medicine and nanotechnologies. We hope that the synergy between theoretical research and practical solutions will lead to the implementation of new technologies, which will play a significant role in Kazakhstan’s development.
