International Educational-Methodological Seminar "Sustainable Development of Legal Science: Schools, Doctrines, and Concepts" within the Winter School
On January 13, 2025, the Department of Customs, Financial, and Environmental Law of the Law Faculty organized an international educational-methodological seminar titled “Sustainable Development of Legal Science: Schools, Doctrines, and Concepts.” The seminar was held within the framework of the Winter School of the Law Faculty and UN SDG No. 17. The event aimed to discuss modern schools, doctrines, and concepts in sustainable development in legal science and foster new directions and solutions in this field.
The seminar was opened by the head of the Department of Customs, Financial, and Environmental Law, Doctor of Law, Professor Gul'dana Amangeldievna Kuanylieva, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of sustainable development in legal science, outlining the seminar’s main goals and expected outcomes. Participants included the Chair of the Academic Committee on Training Personnel in Higher and Postgraduate Education, Doctor of Law, Professor A.S. Ibraeva, the Chair of the Academic Committee on Quality of Education Ajnur Amankulovna Urisbaeva, and the faculty of the Law Faculty.
The seminar brought together Kazakhstani and international experts to discuss current issues and future directions of legal science.
Zhumanazar Tashtemirovich Khalmuminov, Professor at Tashkent State University of Law, presented a report on “The Future of Legal Science and Issues of Its Sustainable Development: Systemic Problems and Challenges in the Context of Reforms,” focusing on systemic challenges and tasks in the legal system amid reforms.
Kaldarbek Junisbayevich Kuandykov and Kanat Muratovich Kozhabek discussed political and legal aspects of integrating sustainable development principles into legal systems in their presentation, “Incorporating Sustainable Development Ideas into Political-Legal Systems.”
Anel Rakhmetzhanovna Erkebayeva, Head of the Department of Socio-Legal Studies at the Republican Research Institute for Labor Protection and Health, discussed the “Historical Evolution of Legal Schools and Doctrines: Modern Trends.”
Nurzhan Saulen, Chief Specialist at the Institute of Parliamentarism, emphasized the necessity of adapting legal concepts to societal changes in his report, “Adapting Legal Concepts to Social Changes: Challenges and Opportunities in a New Era.”
Bakytzhan Kalymbek, Associate Professor, analyzed modern trends in legal schools and proposed innovative methodological approaches in education and research.
Professor Gulnar Tuleukhadirovna Aigarinova highlighted the essential role of legal innovations within sustainable development.
Gulnur Koishynovna Rasheva, PhD, discussed the prospects and challenges of sustainable development in legal science.
Seminar Outcomes
• Identified new ideas and directions in legal science.
• Facilitated experience exchange among scientific community representatives.
• Developed practical recommendations and discussed their potential impact on the legal system.
The seminar provided an excellent platform for strengthening cooperation in sustainable development in legal science.
