The VII international Asian mechanics and Machine Science Conference (Asian MMS-2024) was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Industry experts discussed topical trends and problems of modern science about machines.

The large-scale event was organized by the Mechanics and Machine Engineering Institute named after O.A. Zholdasbekov of the Science Committee of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

On the first day of the conference, a campus tour was organized for participants and guests. They visited the Al-Farabi Museum, the Kazakhstan-China Joint Laboratory for Remote Sensing Technologies and Their Applications, 10 new innovative laboratories at the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management, a pharmaceutical production workshop, an engineering and science-intensive technologies cluster, and other campus facilities. The plenary session of the second day of the forum was opened by the moderator – Doctor of Science, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vice President of the National Scientific Research Institutes of Kazakhstan, and Director General of the Mechanics and Machine Engineering Institute named after O.A. Zholdasbekov, Amandyk Tolechov. He noted that the conference was being held with the support of IFToMM, a prestigious international federation promoting the science of mechanisms and machines, which unites scientists and engineers from 50 countries. Since 1991, independent Kazakhstan has been a member of IFToMM.

The Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuymebayev, delivered a congratulatory speech to the participants. The university head noted that this year marks the 90th anniversary of the founding of the research university, which ranked 163rd in the QS international ranking. The university is actively developing the field of robotics, introducing modern educational programs, and establishing research laboratories. On the occasion of the anniversary, the university opened the Sustainable Development and Environmental Management Scientific Center, which includes 10 laboratories, and the Farabi Chem Science cluster with nine laboratories at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

By the end of the year, the opening of the KazNU Hub, which will house leading international and domestic technological companies, is planned. The Engineering Competence Center in Industrial Robotics and Automation will be operational, and a supercomputer, unmatched in Central Asia, is expected to be delivered. The university is preparing specialists in fields such as "Mechanics", "Automation Systems and Control Devices", and "Robotic Systems".

“The conference is attended by scientists from the USA, Japan, China, India, Taiwan, Italy, Poland, Germany, Turkey, and the CIS countries", said the rector. “This opens great opportunities for further development of intellectual and robotic systems at the university and for conducting joint scientific research".

Doctor of Economics, Professor, Academician, Rector of Turan University, and President of the Association of Universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Rahman Alshanov, congratulated the participants on the opening of the conference and the anniversary of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. He also read a congratulatory letter from the President of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academician Bakhtizhan Jumagulov.

Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Darkhan Akhmed-Zaki, conveyed a congratulatory letter from the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek. "Holding the Asian Mechanisms and Machine Science conference is a significant scientific event in the life of the country. Kazakhstan will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to the development of mechanisms, machines, and robotics sciences. The practical contribution of our scientists and foreign partners will influence the development of machine engineering and related sectors of the economy", the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, emphasized in his message and wished the conference participants success in their scientific and research endeavors.

At the plenary session, speakers included Akylbek Kuryshbayev, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, IFToMM President Andres Kecskemeti, Co-Chair of the Asian MMS-2024 Scientific Committee, Honorary President of IFToMM Marco Ceccarelli, and others.

The conference continued with sectional meetings under the themes: "History and Knowledge in the Theory of Mechanisms and Machines", "Design of Mechanisms and Machines", and "Biomechanics and Medical Robotics".
