A meeting of the Academic and Methodological Association (AMA) for training specialists in the field of "Physical and Chemical Sciences" was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The theme of the meeting was "Formation of Human Capital for the Nuclear Industry: Current Challenges and Innovative Approaches to Specialist Training"

The event was attended by representatives from the Committee for Higher and Postgraduate Education, Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, National Atomic Company "Kazatomprom" the Institute of Nuclear Physics, KASE LLP, the National Nuclear Center of Kazakhstan, the Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear Technology Safety, the Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Kazakh National Research Technical University named after K. Satpayev, D. Serikbayev West Kazakhstan Technical University, Shakarim University, S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, AUES, the Almaty branch of the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MEPhI) Research Nuclear University, Astana IT University, and others.

Welcoming the participants, Altai Kazmagambetov, a member of the Board and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, emphasized the active development of the nuclear industry in the country, which requires the training of highly qualified specialists capable of effectively working in this field, ensuring the safety of nuclear facilities, and developing innovative technologies. It should be noted that Al-Farabi Kazakh National University plays a key role in training specialists for the nuclear industry, having created a platform for scientific research and educational programs in the field of nuclear physics and technologies at its Faculty of Physics and Technology. The university actively collaborates with international scientific and educational centers.

The Director of the Department of Nuclear Energy and Industry at the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Gumar Sergazin, also gave a speech. He highlighted that Kazakhstan, being one of the leaders in uranium production, actively participates in international initiatives for nuclear safety. "Representatives of the sector make an invaluable contribution to strengthening the independence of the republic, while scientific and educational institutions are focused on developing technologies. We understand that the construction of a nuclear power plant, in addition to solving the problem of electricity shortages, will increase economic stability and improve the quality of life for citizens. However, it should be noted that the implementation of the nuclear power plant project requires not only the introduction of modern reforms but also the involvement of qualified specialists necessary for its design and construction. To launch the project, 5,000 high-level professionals will be needed",- said G.Sergazin.

The meeting featured reports from Timur Zhantikin, General Director of KASE LLP (Kazakhstan Atomic Power Stations), Zhanaydar Toksaba, Head of the Nuclear Energy Department at the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Daniyar Zhanseitov, Leading Researcher at the State Enterprise "Institute of Nuclear Physics", Askat Bekbaev, Deputy Chief Engineer of the BBP-K Complex at the State Enterprise "Institute of Nuclear Physics" and others.

According to the participants of the meeting, the construction of a nuclear power plant will strengthen Kazakhstan's energy independence and bring significant multiplier effects to the country's economy, marking a key step toward achieving the carbon neutrality strategy by 2060.

The extended meeting continued in two sections, where the focus was on interdisciplinarity, the application of digital technologies, and the development of competencies in radiation safety and nuclear engineering. Additionally, participants were introduced to innovations and examples of international cooperation. Leading educational and scientific institutions of the country showcased their achievements in the fields of nuclear physics and nuclear medicine. The experience of implementing joint projects with international partners, including CERN, the IAEA, as well as universities in Japan, the USA, and Russia, was also presented.

The meeting included reviews of practical training and collaboration with employers and industry representatives, including JSC "Kazatomprom" and the National Nuclear Center.

The session concluded with the adoption of a resolution outlining the key directions for further development of personnel training for the nuclear industry. Among these, particular emphasis was placed on strengthening the practice-oriented focus of educational programs, expanding international cooperation and exchange programs, and investing in the modernization of laboratories and the development of scientific research.

In this context, it is important to highlight the strategic significance of the scientific and educational complex of KazNU in ensuring the development of high-tech sectors of the economy.
