Genetic Research: Food Security and Innovations in Agriculture

On February 25, 2025, as part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-2), an open educational session was held on the topic "Genetic Research: Food Security and Innovations in Agriculture."
The event was organized by first-year doctoral students of the "8D05104 – Genetics" educational program under the guidance of Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Genetics and Molecular Biology B. O. Bekmanov, and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Pedagogy and Educational Management M. Myrzagulova.
As part of SDG-2, third-year undergraduate students majoring in "Genetics" participated in a laboratory tour at the Institute of Genetics and Physiology.
During the event, students discussed the role of genetic research in ensuring food security and advancing agriculture, receiving answers to their questions. They explored the impact of GMOs and breeding achievements, their applications in agriculture, and genetic methods aimed at increasing productivity. Additionally, detailed information about the SDG-2 program was presented. Students gained insights into modern genetic methods, the latest technologies, and their significance for agriculture.
The educational session fostered students' scientific interest and inspired them to pursue further research.
