On April 4, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the Higher School of Economics and Business, doctoral students of the specialty 8D04102 - “Economics” Patyma Nursultanovna and Yerulan Asentayuly, organized a cognitive discussion lecture for students of the “Actuarial Mathematics” department of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics on the topic “Improving methods of measuring poverty in Kazakhstan”.
It is known that the first goal of the MDGs adopted by the United Nations is to halve the level of poverty in the world by 2030. The first step towards achieving the goal is to start with the correct measurement of poverty. This, in turn, will lead to a true and correct reflection of the problem of inequality in the 10 MDGs. Although the goal is clear for the world community, there is no single methodology for measuring poverty that is unanimously approved by all states.
The discussion questions were held in the context of identifying ways to improve these methods of measuring poverty. During the discussion, the senior lecturer of the Department of Economics, Candidate of Economic Sciences Yerezhepova Aiman Abdykayimovna shared her thoughts. Doctoral students and students also made their insightful suggestions and shared their valuable ideas.
The discussion was very interesting and engaging. Students and doctoral students showed activity and showed concern for the future of our country.
