As part of its career guidance and professional development efforts, the Faculty of Physics and Technology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a meeting with representatives of Kazatomprom National Atomic Company. The guests included Damir Sabanov, Malika Bitimbai, and Dinara Abdikhamitova — Chief Expert of the HR Department.

The main purpose of the meeting was to introduce students to the IZBASAR Young Professionals Development Program for 2025–2026, which offers broad opportunities for aspiring professionals.

IZBASAR, launched in 2020, is aimed at attracting top university graduates and facilitating their employment in the uranium industry. The core objective is the professional and personal development of young specialists under the mentorship of the industry’s leading experts.

The program includes:

  • A 15-month paid rotation at various company sites,

  • Training with internal coaches,

  • Project and production work,

  • Meetings with alumni, and

  • Continuous support from experienced mentors.

The program focuses on the following fields:

  • Uranium production and extraction

  • Geological exploration

  • Economics and finance

  • Nuclear fuel cycle (NFC)

  • Scientific research

  • Information technology and cybersecurity

  • Ecology and environmental protection

  • Human resources management (HR)

The IZBASAR program directly supports key UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 8 "Decent Work and Economic Growth" — by offering real pathways to successful careers for young professionals;

  • SDG 9 "Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure" — by fostering technological competencies within the nuclear sector.

Students showed great interest in the program, asking questions about the application process, eligibility criteria, and long-term career prospects. The Kazatomprom representatives explained each stage of the selection process in detail — from solving online cases and taking analytical tests to competency-based interviews and panel discussions with company leadership.

This event was a vivid example of effective cooperation between the university and industry employers, providing students with a clear understanding of real career opportunities in one of the country's leading companies.
