A new impetus for scientific partnership.

The research work of the Republican Research Center for the Study of Traditional Civilizations of Central Asia of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, its results and future prospects were discussed with scientists from KU Leuven, one of the most prestigious universities in Europe with a 600-year history.
Recognized as a major scientific center, based on many fundamental studies of the history and culture of the nomads of Central Asia, this center was created in 2013 as part of the implementation of the state program “In the Stream of History”.
From the very first days, on the initiative of the founder of the center, the famous scientist T. Omarbekov, extensive international scientific relations were established. One of them was the CROSSROADS RESEARCH CENTRE - a research center created at the Faculty of History, Arts and Culture of the Catholic University of Leuven. The head of the center, Professor Angela Schottenhamer (index h - 6, fluent in 8 languages) is a famous scientist who studies the history of the spread of culture, ideas, scientific knowledge and technology, as well as trade along the sea and land trade routes of the Silk Road.
Today, the center's staff, teachers of the history department M.S. Nogaybaeva, M.D. Baidavletovа are undergoing an internship here under the international program "Bolashak" ("500 scientists") and are fruitfully working on the further development of ties between the two centers. On May 13, 2025, during the internship, the above-mentioned teachers-researchers held a meeting with the staff of the research center "CROSSROADS RESEARCH CENTER" and the faculty of the department "Early Modern History (15th-18th centuries)" about the current research work and future prospects of the Center for the Study of Traditional Civilizations of Central Asia.
Thus, the scientists of the center, undergoing an internship under the international Bolashak program (“500 scientists”) in the center of science and education, which is among the twenty best innovative universities in Europe, not only improve their professional qualifications, but also, taking advantage of the opportunity, contribute to expanding the horizons of future scientific partnerships.
