SDG № 4, 10, 11: Monitoring of the Inclusive Environment at KazNU

30 september, 2025

On October 30, 2025, as part of the “Everyone Matters” project supported by the Youth Policy Department of Almaty city, a monitoring visit was conducted at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University to assess the accessibility of infrastructure for people with special needs.

The monitoring was carried out by Bogdan Igorevich Dzhepka, an expert in inclusion and the rights of people with disabilities. During the visit, the inclusiveness of the university environment was assessed: the presence of ramps, accessibility of academic buildings, the library, restrooms, navigation aids for individuals with special needs, and other elements of a barrier-free environment.

The inspection was conducted in a positive and constructive atmosphere. The expert highlighted the positive developments and expressed satisfaction with the level of accessibility of certain university facilities, emphasizing that KazNU is moving in the right direction toward creating an inclusive educational environment.

A significant role in organizing the monitoring was played by the Scientific and Practical Center “Inclusive Environment” at KazNU, which actively supported the process and provided the necessary information.

This event became an important part of comprehensive efforts to promote inclusive principles in higher education and to ensure equal opportunities for all students and staff at the university.
