Expanding Scientific Horizons: Meeting of 2nd-Year History Faculty Students with Academician Zh.K. Taimagambetov
A significant event took place at the History Faculty as part of implementing the fundamental principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 2nd-year students met with Zhaken Kozhakhmetovich Taimagambetov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Chief Researcher at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This meeting highlights the importance of two key SDGs: SDG No. 4 "Quality Education" and SDG No. 17 "Partnership". Zhaken Kozhakhmetovich is one of the most authoritative figures in Kazakhstani archaeology, having made an invaluable contribution to the study of the Paleolithic and the ancient history of the country.
Significance of the Meeting:
-
SDG 4: Quality Education. Students gained knowledge directly from one of the leading scholars in their professional field. Academician Taimagambetov shared his long-standing experience, unique methods for studying Paleolithic sites in Kazakhstan, and his scientific discoveries. This contributes to improving the quality of education and deepening the professional competencies of future historians.
-
SDG 17: Partnership. The meeting serves as a prime example of effective cooperation between an educational institution (the faculty) and a leading scientific and cultural institute (the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan). Such inter-institutional partnership allows for the consolidation of scientific and cultural resources, providing students with valuable practical skills.
Students posed questions to the Academician about current directions in scientific research, the mysteries of Kazakhstan's ancient history, and the role young historians can play in archaeology. Zhaken Kozhakhmetovich’s life and scientific experience served as a great source of inspiration for the second-year students.
This event marked an important step in ensuring a high standard for the training of history specialists and strengthening the continuity of generations in the preservation and development of Kazakhstan's scientific heritage.
