MEETING OF THE ACADEMIC COUNCIL AT THE FACULTY OF GEOGRAPHY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES №3
On October 31, 2025, a regular meeting of the Academic Council of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management was held in Auditorium 225 with the participation of the faculty administration, heads of departments, academic staff, and researchers.
The primary purpose of the meeting was to discuss current issues related to educational, scientific, and organizational activities of the faculty and to approve decisions aimed at strengthening its academic and research potential.
Key items on the agenda:
1. Implementation of the decisions of the University Academic Council and Faculty Dean’s Office
A report was presented on the issues previously reviewed at the university level and the measures to be implemented by the faculty. The discussion focused on improving the quality of education, digitalization of learning materials, and expanding academic mobility for students and teaching staff.
2. Preparation of application materials for the national competition “Best University Lecturer”
Heads of departments were instructed to ensure timely preparation of application documents for faculty members participating in the competition. Requirements for publications, teaching and methodological work, innovation, and scientific supervision of students were clarified.
3. Results of Midterm Control 1 (Fall semester 2025–2026)
Academic performance indicators for the fall semester were reviewed. Faculty members were advised to strengthen methodological support and provide additional consultations to students, especially in disciplines with lower performance results.
3.1. Review of monographs for publication
Three academic monographs prepared by the faculty staff were presented: “Comprehensive Geographical Assessment of Sustainable Development of Major Cities of Kazakhstan” – collective monograph, 260 pages; “Demographic Sustainability of the West Kazakhstan Region: Methodology, Geodemographic Assessment and Forecast” – collective monograph, 219 pages; “Spatial Sustainability of Human Capital in the Republic of Kazakhstan” – monograph, 218 pages.
The monographs were noted for their scientific relevance, novelty, and practical significance. All three works were recommended for publication.
3.2. Student survey
An internal student survey initiative was also reviewed. The purpose of the survey is to: assess the quality of the organization of the educational process; measure students’ satisfaction with teaching, learning conditions, and class schedules; collect suggestions and feedback to improve the educational environment.
Members of the Academic Council supported conducting such surveys regularly every semester. The results will be analyzed by departments, academic programs, and disciplines, followed by necessary action plans.
3.3. Qualification matters
The Academic Council considered the candidacies of faculty members for submission for academic titles. Scientific publications, participation in research projects, and supervision of master's and doctoral students were reviewed. Positive decisions were taken based on the evaluation.

Conclusion of the meeting
The meeting was held in a constructive and productive atmosphere. The adopted decisions are aimed at: strengthening the research potential of the faculty; improving the quality of professional training; supporting scientific research activities; increasing the participation of faculty members in professional competitions and projects.
The faculty will continue to work on improving the educational environment, developing scientific research, and expanding international cooperation.
