SDG 4: Discipline at University: Not a Whim, but a Necessity
At Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, an educational session in the format of a discussion and informative event was held for 3rd-year students of the Faculty of Physics and Technology. The session was organized by the curators A.B. Ashikbayeva, Zh.M. Moldabekov, and A.U. Utegenov.
The primary goal of the event was to cultivate in students a conscious understanding of the importance of discipline in the learning process, develop responsibility, self-organization skills, and foster respectful attitudes toward university regulations.
During the session, the following objectives were addressed:

Demonstrate the role of discipline in achieving personal and professional goals;

Develop students’ ability to effectively organize their time and academic activities;

Foster a culture of conduct and academic integrity;

Instill a sense of responsibility for the outcomes of one’s learning.
The session included a discussion on the concept of “discipline” and its significance in a person’s life. Students were informed that discipline is not merely about following rules but is a reflection of internal culture, self-control, and respect for others.
Students actively shared their views on how discipline contributes to personal success, enhances motivation, creates a positive atmosphere within the group, and aids in the development of professional qualities.
This educational session was recognized as an important example of activities aimed at supporting students’ academic and professional development.
