The Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism Held an Outreach Seminar for Alumni as Part of the University’s Educational Initiatives
On 17 November 2025, the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management conducted a seminar for alumni as part of the university’s ongoing informational and educational outreach activities. The event aimed to strengthen long-term cooperation between the department and its graduates, enhance the quality of education, and facilitate the exchange of practical and academic experience.
The primary purpose of the seminar was to explain the fundamental principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to highlight the vital role of tourism in social, economic, and cultural development. Today, tourism acts as a significant driver of societal progress, supporting cultural heritage preservation, boosting local economies, and fostering responsible attitudes toward the natural environment.
A key emphasis of the seminar was placed on the important role of alumni as a bridge between academic education and practical professional activity. Their industry experience, accumulated knowledge, and insights into current labor market demands provide valuable contributions to the continuous improvement and modernization of the department’s educational process.
During the seminar, participants discussed the updating and refinement of the department’s curricula. The conversation focused on integrating modern competencies, increasing the flexibility of educational trajectories, strengthening practice-oriented learning, and embedding sustainable development elements into the program. Such collaborative dialogue enables the department to respond promptly to changes in the tourism industry and to ensure that graduates remain competitive on the labor market.
Despite their busy schedules, alumni actively engaged in the discussion, asked numerous questions, exchanged ideas, and expressed strong interest in further collaboration. Participants gave highly positive feedback, confirming the relevance and importance of such meetings for enhancing educational quality and sustaining professional connections.
The Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism will continue to strengthen its cooperation with alumni and the professional community, contributing to the advancement of educational standards, the promotion of sustainable development principles, and the expansion of the university’s societal impact.
