An event dedicated to the celebration of Körisu Kuni

On March 14, at Kazakh National University, in the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, at the Department of Biotechnology, an event dedicated to the celebration of Körisu Kuni was held with the participation of the department’s lecturers, second-year students of group MB 23-01 K, and first-year students of group MB 24-01 R.
Purpose of the event:
- To instill national cultural values in students and foster respect and appreciation for their traditions.
- To encourage students in higher education to develop mutual respect, unity, and kindness.
March 14 is celebrated in our country as the beginning of the Nauryz festival – Körisu Kuni, also known as Amal Merecesi. On this day, people rejoice at having safely made it through the winter, welcome the arrival of spring, visit relatives and neighbors, shake hands, and embrace. They forget past grievances and wish each other good health and well-being. Körisu Kuni is considered the beginning of Nauryz, marking the meeting of one year with the next. It is a time when people have access to fresh dairy products again, and livestock begin to graze on green pastures. The great Abai once wrote:
"The people from the steppes meet with those from the valleys,
Smiling, greeting, and fulfilling their longing for one another."
Historically, this tradition has been preserved from the times of our nomadic ancestors, who, unable to meet during the harsh winter, would reunite in spring, inquire about each other’s well-being, and exchange warm wishes. On this day, it is customary to visit one another’s homes, reconcile past misunderstandings, and exchange festive greetings such as "Бір жасың құтты болсын!" ("May your new year be blessed!") and "Амал мерекесі құтты болсын!" ("Happy Amal festival!"). The first and most important visit is to the elders of the family to show respect.
The second-year students of group MB 23-01 K and first-year students of group MB 24-01 R, specializing in Microbiology, actively participated in the Körisu Kuni celebration on March 14, congratulating each other and observing the traditional customs of the occasion.
