January 24 – International Day of Education

  At the Department of Fundamental Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, an event was held to commemorate the International Day of Education, which aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 4: "Quality Education."

    Since 2019, January 24 has been annually observed as the International Day of Education. The UN General Assembly resolution emphasizes that education plays a key role in shaping a sustainable and resilient society and contributes to achieving sustainable development goals. Goal No. 4 aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education while promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. Moreover, education opens doors to overcoming poverty and helps secure well-being in the future.

   In 2025, the International Day of Education is being celebrated for the seventh time, and UNESCO has dedicated this year’s theme to artificial intelligence: "AI and Education: Preserving Human Potential in the Age of Automation."

   During the event, various issues related to this theme were discussed, particularly how education can help individuals adapt to rapidly changing conditions driven by the development of artificial intelligence and technology, the impact of AI on education, and ways to preserve and enhance human potential in the era of automation.

   The event was organized by faculty members of the department: T.A. Akhaeva, A.N. Akimniyazova, and N.O. Urnesh. First-year students of the "Medicine" educational program actively participated in the discussion.
