"Genre Features of proverbs and sayings"

    On February 20, 2025, under the guidance of Senior Lecturer of the Department of Kazakh Literature and Literary Theory at the Faculty of Philology, Sardgeltayeva Ardak Kurmanalykizy, within the framework of SDG 4: "Quality Education,"  the first-year doctoral student majoring in  "Literary Studies" Manapbayeva Zhuldyz Bekbolatkyzy conducted a seminar on the topic "Genre Features of proverbs and sayings"  on the subject "Folk Oral Literature" with  the second-year students of the "Kazakh Philology" major.The main purpose of the seminar was to identify the genre and structural features of proverbs and sayings, as well as to discuss their role in conveying the worldview and moral values of the Kazakh people. During the seminar, the students were divided into groups, and active teaching methods were applied.      The first part of the workshop explained the key differences between proverbs and sayings and the areas of their use. After studying the theoretical material, the students took part in various interactive games and creative tasks. In the final part, each group used a "Venn diagram" to analyze the features of proverbs and sayings and participated in the discussion. The participants discussed the role of these genres in modern society and their importance in educating the younger generation. This seminar helped students to better understand the value of folk oral literature. They realized the importance of using proverbs and sayings in everyday life and were able to use their knowledge in practice. The level of engagement was high, and creative tasks aroused particular interest. At the end of the seminar, the students shared their feedback using a Notepad. Many noted that the lesson was interesting and useful, and showed an increased interest in proverbs and saying.
