International Academic Staff

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is successfully implementing programs to attract foreign professors to teaching and conducting joint research. Foreign scientists are invited at the expense of the state program "Attracting foreign scientists" of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, extra-budgetary funds of the university and other various scientific and educational projects (Erasmus+, faculty projects).

Scientists from leading foreign universities and educational and scientific organizations, such as the University of Oxford, the University of Oregon, Ohio University, the University of Lorraine, the University of Białystok, the University of London, the University of Tsukuba, Lomonosov Moscow State University, etc., actively participate in the educational process for the preparation of bachelors, undergraduates, PhD students as visiting professors and scientific co-supervisors.

Over the past year, the total number of invited foreign scientists and professors involved in the educational process amounted to 105 people from 32 countries. More than 70 people were invited on the initiative of the university. Also, according to the program of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, 38 foreign scientists were involved.

FOR FOREIGN PROFESSORS

Documents required for obtaining a visa for foreign teachers:

1. Copy of the order (call);

2. Copy of the contract (indicating the place of work);

3. Original passport;

4. Copy of passport (with latest visa);

5. Photo - size 3*4 cm;

6. Payment of 30 MCI (1 MCI in 2023 - 3,450 tenge).

7. Notarized consent of the owner of the apartment to live in the apartment (in case of birth in the apartment).

For visa support (C3 work visa):

1. Copy of the order (on employment);

2. Copy of passport;

3. Completed application form (International Cooperation and Internationalization Department);

4. Payment of 0.5 MCI (1 MCI in 2023 - 3,450 tenge).

5. notarized copy of the diploma with legalization or apostille;

6. In case of receiving a visa in another country an applicant must submit a notarized translation of a resident card or notarized translation of a copy of a long-term visa

For visa support (business visa B1):

1. Submission (to be authorized by the Director of International Cooperation and Internationalization Department and the Vice-Rector for Operational Activities);

2. Copy of passport;

3. Completed application form (International Cooperation and Internationalization Department);

4. Payment of 0.5 MCI (1 MCI in 2023 - 3,450 tenge).

5. In case of receiving a visa in another country an applicant must submit a notarized translation of a resident card or notarized translation of a copy of a long-term visa

The procedure of registration and the list of documents for inviting foreign scientists to the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

The Faculty provides the necessary documents for inviting foreign scientists to the International Cooperation and Internationalization Department.

List of documents:

1. Official note addressed to Vice-rector for Operations

2. Application addressed to the rector (justification of the invitation)

3. A copy of the passport of a foreign scientist

4. A certificate from the place of work (or a printout from the university's website) indicating the length of service

5. A copy of the PhD or Doctor of Science diploma

6. CV

7. Data on the Hirsch Index, articles in Scopus

8. The schedule of works is signed by the Dean, the head of the department and has to be approved by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs

1) If necessary, all documents must be translated into Kazakh/Russian, diplomas have to be notarized translation

2) After receiving and verifying the documents, the department of International Cooperation and Internalization concludes contract with foreign scientists and, if necessary, provides visa support

3) Payroll is made after the provision of the act of work performed by the faculties of KazNU to the department
