Meeting of students with leading scientists held at the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of Al-Farabi KazNU

On November 19, 2025, at 14:00, a meeting of 3rd- and 4th-year students with leading scientists in the field of mathematics and mechanics was held at the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The honorary guest of the event was Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Yerlan Dautbekovich Nursultanov from L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. The meeting was also attended by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Baltabek Esmatovich Kanguzhin, and Head of the Department of Mathematics, Syrym Yerkinovich Kasenov.

During the meeting, Professor Y.D. Nursultanov delivered a lecture-discussion on modern trends in the development of mathematics, opportunities for a scientific career, and the role of fundamental research in technological progress. Special attention was paid to the competencies required of young specialists today and to how students can build their trajectory of professional growth already at the senior undergraduate levels.

The students actively asked questions about choosing a research topic, participating in grant projects, publishing in high-ranking journals, internships, and opportunities for academic mobility. The format of open dialogue allowed the participants to receive practical advice from recognized experts and to broaden their understanding of their future profession.

In conclusion, it was noted that such events help strengthen scientific ties between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, and also encourage students to take an active part in research work.

The event was aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG 4 “Quality Education” and SDG 17 “Partnerships for the Goals”, highlighting the importance of inter-university cooperation and the training of highly qualified specialists.
