A Path to Financial Literacy: An Educational Visit to Otbasy Bank
On November 20, 2025, first-year students of Group 106 from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, under the initiative and guidance of Erkenaz Bazartaiqyzy, took part in an educational visit to one of the leading financial institutions in the country — “Otbasý Bank.” The main goal of this event was to enhance students’ financial literacy within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 8, “Decent Work and Economic Growth,” and Goal 17, “Partnerships for the Goals,” as well as to familiarize them with the inner workings of the banking system and provide professional orientation for the future. 🏦
During the visit, the bank’s specialists warmly welcomed us and provided in-depth information about Kazakhstan’s housing savings system, accessible mechanisms for obtaining home ownership, and effective financial planning methods. Particularly valuable were the insights into saving for an initial down payment, the advantages of deposit accounts, affordable lending programs, and support measures for young families. 📘✨

While touring the bank’s departments, students explored modern service formats such as the digital queue system, online consultations, and the use of mobile applications for payments and deposit management. We observed how digital systems operate and witnessed the real impact of digitalization in the financial sector. This experience demonstrated how new technologies simplify banking services and highlighted the importance of customer-oriented service. 💻✨
The visit not only increased students’ interest in the financial sphere but also motivated them to make informed financial decisions in the future. The practical advice shared by bank employees helped us better understand the importance of personal financial management, effective budgeting methods, and the role of financial responsibility in everyday life. 💡
Such educational and practice-oriented activities significantly broaden students’ horizons and play an important role in developing essential life skills. “Otbasý Bank” is not just a financial institution—it is a vital center that helps individuals plan their future with confidence and contributes to the country’s sustainable development. ❤️
