28 november, 2025

Chairman of the Board Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev made a presentation at the international forum in Tashkent "The role of the Eurasian higher education system in the integration of East and West" and spoke about the regional integration of education and global directions of the university's development.

The session was led by the regional director of QS Sergey Khristolyubov. The heads of the leading universities of Kazakhstan, the UAE, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan took part in the discussion.

In his speech, Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that Almaty is becoming the most important scientific and educational center in Central Asia. "KazNU's mission is not just to be a bridge between East and West, but also to become a regional initiator of the university, offering new ideas and integration models",- said the rector.

The Rector highlighted the concrete results of the university's expanded global engagement. Currently, KazNU's academic campuses are successfully operating in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), Omsk (Russia) and Istanbul (Turkey). A branch of the Russian National Research Nuclear University MEPhI and the Northwestern Polytechnic University of China is located on the basis of Almaty.

This infrastructure strengthens KazNU's academic network and allows the dissemination of educational standards across the Eurasian space.

Zhanseit Tuimebayev stated that Eurasia should become not only a point of convergence between East and West, but also a full-fledged global direction in education. To this end, he proposed the creation of an Alliance of Eurasian Universities for the training of global talents, bringing together the leading universities in the region.

The main goal of the alliance is to unite the forces of higher education institutions in Eurasia. Thanks to this initiative, universities will be able to develop joint educational and scientific programs. Innovation hubs will be created to support startups, technology exchange and knowledge transfer. It will also contribute to increasing the region's international standing in the fields of science, innovation and digital technologies.

The rector noted that work in this direction has already begun at the university. Currently, KazNU successfully operates the Farabi Hub, the Technology Transfer Center, international laboratories and double-degree programs.

The University actively trains students and staff to work with artificial intelligence, digital platforms and new technologies.

In conclusion, Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted: "Our goal is to transform Eurasia into a full–fledged academic space in the next five to ten years, where students, researchers and innovations will flock".
