International Anti-Corruption Day

On November 27, as part of the goal of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev "Law and Order", the Faculty of International Relations conducted an information campaign dedicated to the International Day against Corruption, which is celebrated annually on December 9.

The event was organized by Associate Professor of the Department of International Law, retired police Colonel Samaldykov M.K.

Speakers: Professor of the Department of International Law, Doctor of Law Shakirov K.N., lecturer of the same Department, Master of Law Toktarbekova M.E., 4th year student of the specialty "International Law" Mutalipova Dilnara.

Professor Shakirov K.N. focused on the international standards for ensuring justice outlined in SDG 16. In his speech, he elaborated on the problem of the quality of regulatory legal acts, emphasizing that the imperfection of their examination procedures can lead to the emergence of corruption-related norms. It was particularly noted that the lack of a unified methodology and the insufficient level of training of specialists involved in conducting anti-corruption expertise remain serious risk factors.

Lecturer Toktarbekova M.E. presented an overview of international initiatives in the field of combating corruption, paying attention to the history of the International Day against Corruption. She noted that this date is associated with the signing of the UN Convention against Corruption, which was ratified by Kazakhstan in 2008 and has become a key document in the formation of universal anti-corruption standards.

Dilnara Mutalipova, a 4th-year student, highlighted the importance of improving legislation and increasing the openness of public services to minimize violations in this area using specific examples of violations of anti-corruption legislation by employees of the migration service of the country's regions. This aroused the interest of the listeners.

Special attention was paid to the student initiative. As part of the campaign, a competition was organized among students of the 1st year of the russian language of the IRF for the "Best anti-corruption leaflet". The female students who prepared booklets and flyers aimed at creating a negative attitude towards corruption and raising awareness among young people were awarded diplomas for their best work by the jury.

 

Students of the specialty "International Relations" were encouraged: Berik Ayaulym, Berikkyzy Lyazzat, Kainazarova Jasmina, Kadyr Adina, as well as Ospanova Dinara, specialty "International Law".

Of particular note are the informative booklets of Berikzy Lyazzat and Ospanova Dinara.

Kim Arina, specializing in International Law, was awarded the diploma "Leaflet with the most creative approach".

The awarding ceremony took place with the participation of the head of the International Law Department, PhD, Associate Professor K.Altayeva. The event not only helped to raise the awareness of students of the 1st year of the IRF in the field of anti-corruption, but also formed their understanding of the importance of personal responsibility, citizenship and active participation in promoting anti-corruption values among youth and society as a whole.
