SDG No. 10: Charity Concert at the “Meiirim” Nursing Home
On November 28, 2025, a warm and heartfelt charity concert was held at the “Meiirim” nursing home, prepared by students of the ART Center of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was part of the university’s social initiatives and aimed at supporting elderly residents, fully aligning with Sustainable Development Goal No. 10 — Reducing Inequality, which focuses on protecting vulnerable groups of the population.
“Meiirim” is a private care home for elderly people and those requiring constant assistance. The facility provides round-the-clock nursing care, medical supervision, support for people with dementia, rehabilitation after injuries and strokes, as well as comfortable living conditions. Special attention is given not only to the physical but also the emotional well-being of residents through wellness activities, walks, recreational programs, and social interaction. Therefore, creative events such as the concert by KazNU students play an important role in supporting the psychological and social well-being of the residents.
The artistic groups of the ART Center performed for the nursing home residents:
The “Farab Bishileri” dance ensemble delighted the audience with expressive choreography rich in national elements.
The “Farabi Sazy” orchestra of traditional instruments performed kyuis and folk melodies, creating an atmosphere of cultural heritage and warmth.
The vocalists presented heartfelt songs that evoked nostalgia and uplifted the audience emotionally.
The final joint performance brought together musicians and dancers, symbolizing respect and gratitude toward the older generation.
After the concert, the students continued interacting with the residents of “Meiirim”: listening to their stories, exchanging impressions, and taking photos together. Such meetings are very meaningful for elderly people — they help them feel connected to society and surrounded by care and attention.
The management of the ART Center emphasized that participation in such events helps develop students’ social responsibility and empathy. Supporting elderly people is directly related to the objectives of SDG 10, aimed at reducing social gaps and fostering an inclusive society.
The charity concert at the “Meiirim” nursing home became an event that united different generations and brought joy through art and human connection. The students expressed their intention to continue such initiatives, turning them into a kind tradition that brings warmth and kindness to those who need it most.
