At the Department of Fundamental Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, a special and significant discussion was held among first-year students of the “Dentistry” program. The event, organized within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals, was dedicated to the topic “Euthanasia in the Modern World.”
The discussion took place between two groups. Each group presented its position and arguments in an academic format, thoroughly examining the relevance of the topic and its ethical challenges. This event allowed students to gain a deeper understanding of the medical, social, and legal aspects of euthanasia.
Participants:
The first group focused on the medical and psychological aspects of euthanasia, including the patient’s right to voluntarily end their life and the responsibilities of physicians.
The second group expressed their disagreement with euthanasia, relying on moral and social principles.
The discussion proceeded at a high academic level: the students defended their perspectives with well-reasoned arguments and exchanged viewpoints in a spirit of mutual respect and openness. This event served as an important opportunity to foster a scientific approach and to engage with complex issues.
In conclusion, addressing such significant topics contributes to the development of critical thinking among students.
