From October 20 to 29, as part of the implementation of the sustainable development goal “Quality Education,” events dedicated to Republic Day were held. First-year students majoring in Geography and Hydrology took part in the events.
A poetry contest “My Kazakhstan” was held, where students read poems about their homeland and talked about their small homeland (city, village). Students from different parts of Kazakhstan study in groups, so their stories about the location, history, population, attractions, and development prospects of their small homeland aroused great interest. The events were held with the aim of fostering a sense of patriotism and pride in their homeland among students, developing their interest in the written word, and developing their ability to appreciate the beauty and expressiveness of poetry and to speak in front of an audience. At the end, all participants received “sweet” prizes.
The event was notable for its mass participation and focus on values. Posters and placards were prepared for the event.
