Enhancing public health culture, explaining disease prevention measures, and promoting a healthy lifestyle within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 3.

Human health is the most valuable resource of any society. Only a nation with strong health can achieve socio-economic development, innovation, and sustainable growth. In this regard, among the UN Sustainable Development Goals, SDG 3 – “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages” – holds a special place. This goal includes comprehensive measures aimed at improving population health.

Regular physical activity is essential for maintaining long-term health and preventing serious medical conditions. A lack of exercise significantly increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular events (CVD events), metabolic syndrome, pediatric obesity, and other non–communicable diseases. Physical inactivity can also worsen outcomes in colorectal cancer (CRC), reduce disease-specific survival (DSS), and negatively affect conditions such as chronic hepatitis C (HCV). Furthermore, unhealthy lifestyle habits are associated with a higher likelihood of substance-use disorders (SUD) and weakened immunity. Therefore, encouraging regular physical activity is a key preventive strategy for achieving SDG 3.

During the event, participants will receive information on proper nutrition, developing an active lifestyle, maintaining mental health, preventing harmful habits, and ensuring access to medical care. The importance of strengthening the health of adolescents and youth, preventing infectious and non-communicable diseases, the role of vaccination, and the impact of the environment on health will also be discussed.

Work in this direction is not solely the responsibility of the medical sector. Health protection is a multisectoral process that requires the combined efforts of education, ecology, sports, social protection, and local administrative bodies. Therefore, the event emphasizes the importance of responsibility and active participation from every member of society.

A healthy person is the foundation of sustainable development. Therefore, SDG 3 is not only an international commitment but also a shared value for every family, every citizen, and society as a whole. Preserving health means preserving the future.
