DECEMBER 15 — WORLD DAY OF TURKIC LANGUAGES THE FUTURE OF THE TURKIC WORLD IN ACADEMIC DIALOGUE

On December 15, 2025, at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, within the framework of the Quality Education for Sustainable Development program and in celebration of the World Day of Turkic Languages, a round table discussion was held on the topic “The Fate of Turkic Languages: Challenges of Preservation in the Context of Globalization and International Academic Cooperation.”

The academic event served as a meaningful platform for discussing current trends in the development of Turkic languages, issues of their preservation, and the importance of strengthening international scholarly cooperation. In the context of globalization, the preservation of linguistic heritage was highlighted as one of the key challenges facing the academic community today.

 

The round table was moderated by Professor Myrzakhan Sharipbayuly Egamberdiyev, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies. His academic leadership and organizational expertise contributed to the high scholarly level of the event and facilitated productive academic exchange.


During the round table, presentations were delivered by both domestic and international scholars. In particular, Professor Savaş Şahin, who participated upon the official invitation of the Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye, along with prominent Turkology scholars — Associate Researcher Botagoz Suyerqul Myrzabaykyzy and PhD, Senior Lecturer Yerzhan Aituly Kuanyshbayev — shared their academic perspectives on the future of Turkic languages and the prospects for international cooperation.

                                  

The event contributed to supporting academic initiatives aimed at preserving the linguistic heritage of Turkic peoples, strengthening international academic ties, and enhancing the research capacity of young scholars. The round table was recognized as an important academic platform that reinforces Al-Farabi Kazakh National University’s standing in the field of Turkic studies.
