On December 15, 2025, Lecturer of the Department of International Law, S. M. Apenov, conducted an educational event dedicated to contemporary risks of labor exploitation in the region within the framework of the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goal N 8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth.”
The topic of the event — “Counteracting Forced Labor and Human Trafficking” — was aimed at increasing participants’ legal awareness of the most pressing threats in the field of labor relations, the forms and indicators of forced labor, as well as mechanisms for the prevention of and response to human trafficking.
During the meeting, international and national legal instruments for the protection of human rights were discussed, liability for crimes related to labor exploitation was addressed, and practical recommendations were provided on identifying risks and protecting one’s labor rights.
Holding such events contributes to the development of legal culture, fosters a responsible attitude toward employment issues, and strengthens the principles of decent work in modern society.
