Mini Lecture “Women in STEM and IT” within the Framework of SDG-5 “Gender Equality”
On 19 December 2025, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a mini lecture titled “Women in STEM and IT” as part of the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 5 – Gender Equality. The event was attended by external participants, including students and academic staff of the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University.
The lecture was delivered by Saule Zhumakanovna Mausumbekova, Associate Professor of the Department of Mathematical and Computer Modeling, Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Al-Farabi KazNU.
The event aimed to promote STEM and IT fields among young women and to increase interest in research and innovation activities. The lecture highlighted the role of women in modern science and technology, successful career pathways in STEM disciplines, and opportunities for student involvement in research projects, international programs, and academic mobility.
Special attention was given to overcoming gender stereotypes, strengthening professional motivation, and fostering equal opportunities in science and technology. The mini lecture generated strong interest among participants and contributed to strengthening inter-university cooperation in the context of sustainable development and gender equality.
