Educational Lecture on Youth Legal Literacy within the Framework of SDG 8

On December 22, 2025, an educational lecture entitled “Legal Literacy of Youth as an Important Condition for the Development of Civil Society” was held at Gymnasium No. 120 named after M. Begalin. The lecture was organized by a lecturer of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was conducted as part of the implementation of SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth.

The lecture for the gymnasium students was delivered by Professor Dina Muratovna Baimakhanova of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law. During the lecture, issues related to increasing the legal culture of youth, the importance of legal literacy in shaping an active civic position, as well as the role of law in professional self-determination and the socio-economic development of society were discussed.

Gymnasium No. 120 named after M. Begalin acted as a partner of the event, on whose premises the meeting with senior school students was organized.

Within the framework of the program, the following activities were carried out:

– a lecture on the fundamentals of citizens’ rights and obligations, constitutional principles and the rule of law, with explanations of the constitutional reforms of 2022 and the parliamentary reform of 2027;

– analysis of practical life situations related to the protection of youth rights;

– an interactive discussion and answers to students’ questions.

Approximately 20 gymnasium students, as well as a university lecturer, took part in the event.

The lecture contributed to increasing the legal awareness of school students, fostering a responsible attitude toward future professional activity, and developing civil society. The event facilitated the implementation of the university’s social mission and strengthened partnership relations between higher education institutions and general education schools within the framework of SDG 8.
